Brian Beise approached me about about designing the Winter Set cover when Concerning Lions was cutting its second record in late 2010. I built this little diorama based on a song titled "Much of a Tree". They recorded the album on the only day it snowed in a studio full of friends and family whooping, clapping, and stomping.
From time to time, I get to make something physical before I make it digital. I'll use this space for drawings, objects, and process shots.
One of SoundCorps Chattanooga's chief initiatives is a business course for entrepreneurs in the music industry. I teamed up with Brian Beise, who wrote the curriculum and the text, to produce this work book for the seven-week course. Staged as a recipe book, Craft Masters guides a wide range of music industry professionals through the not-so-intuitive logistics of running a creative project like a business.
Some projects are hard to define. This is a collection of unique pieces that fall squarely into that category. The scope of this work ranges from illustrations and hand-lettering, to one-off posters and cover art, to cutting paper and building dioramas.
I designed this poster for Chattanooga's fourteenth PechaKucha Night during my time as an intern with DJ Trischler at D+J Brand consulting. The super talented Kerry O'Connor provided art direction for the PKN poster series. We produced a limited run for the event with the black elements printed digitally and the red screen printed on top.
I designed this cover as an undergraduate at UTC's School of Art.
